Here at Pennyroyal, we try to help our community by providing medical care for injured wildlife and information on licensed rehabilitators for those that are orphaned. Because this service very costly to our clinic, we gladly take donations for wildlife care. It is at the discretion of our doctors to determine if the animal can be helped by medical care and/or rehabilitation for release back into the wild or if euthanasia is needed.
It is always recommended that babies not be bothered unless you are positive that the mother cannot or will not care for them. We are inundated with juevenile bunnies, birds and squirrels in the spring. If at all possible, please put babies back in their nest and the mother will usually return to care for them. If they have been attacked by a dog or cat or the mother has been killed, please give us a call and we will help you find a licensed rehabilitator who will provide care until they are old enough to be released back into the wild.
It is against the law in Kentucky to keep wildlife as a pet or rehabilitate them unless you are licensed by the state. Any questions regarding the wildlife laws may be referred to Kentucky Fish and Wildlife.
